In this AFC South three-round mock draft, the Houston Texans fill as many needs as they can with their multitude of early picks. Due to their many weak spots, they are going to be the team that changes the flow of the draft with each pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars play it safe by taking Aidan Hutchinson and continue to upgrade their defense, with three of their four picks coming on that side of the ball. The Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts will have to be sharp, having only two picks each in the first three rounds. They used those selections to attack positions of need in this mock draft.
Jacksonville Jaguars
This is a draft without a true No. 1 overall type of player, so the Jaguars — assuming we look back in three to five seasons and see that they picked a good football player — can’t go wrong here. The consensus is they will take Hutchinson, but there is smoke around them taking Georgia’s Travon Walker. In all honesty, picking any of the so-called consensus top prospects would be fine. Assuming the Jaguars can’t trade down and pick up an extra draft pick while still getting one of the six to seven Tier 1 prospects, they’ll be fine with Hutchinson.
The team is supposedly high on the Georgia linebacker Quay Walker, but his teammate Lewis Cine was hard to pass up. Cine was asked to do quite a bit in the Bulldogs' defense, and his athletic profile indicates he can do whatever his future NFL team wants, too. His vertical jump, 40-yard dash and 10-yard split were all above the 97th percentile among safeties.
